Completed degrees at JYU in 2022: Congratulations to nearly 2800 graduates!

In 2022, altogether 2764 degrees were completed at the University of Jyväskylä: 1447 Masters, 1200 Bachelors, 116 Doctors plus one Licentiate.

The number of Master's and doctoral degrees decreased slightly from the previous year, with 2950 1537 Masters, 1275 Bachelors, and 137 Doctors plus one Licentiate.

- I would like to warmly congratulate all the graduates and wish them the very best of luck and success in their future studies and careers. The graduates have done a great job in advancing their studies and completing their degrees, partly through distance learning arrangements during the pandemic period. Our staff’s expertise and competence in organising high-quality teaching and guidance amidst the prolonged pandemic played a crucial role in this achievement, states Vice Rector Marja-Leena Laakso.

The largest number of doctoral degrees was reached in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Mathematics and Science (27). The Faculty of Education and Psychology recorded 21 doctoral degrees, The Faculty of Information Technology 20, the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences had 13, and Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics (JSBE) 8.

The number of Master’s degrees completed was biggest in the Faculty of Education and Psychology (369). The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences recorded 345 Master´s degrees, the Faculty of Information Technology 225, the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences 222. JSBE had 171, and the Faculty of Mathematics and Science 115 new Master graduates.

The degree objectives agreed between the Ministry of Education and Culture and the University of Jyväskylä for years 2021–2024 are on average 1731 Master’s and 150 doctoral degrees per year. The average annual objective for Bachelor’s degrees is 1460.
