In her doctoral thesis Seyma Kocak examined digital organizational culture and digital mindset in industrial craft enterprises, focusing on how traditional craft businesses adapt to digitalization.
Industrial craft enterprises are businesses that focus on technical production, repair, and service, such as installing and maintaining heating and plumbing systems, wiring electrical installations, or providing professional painting and refurbishment work. These enterprises combine specialized manual skills with technical tools and equipment to deliver reliable, customized services to households and businesses.
The study found that success in digital transformation depends more on culture and attitude than on technology alone. A strong digital mindset boosts competence, motivation, and innovation, while a culture of trust, learning, and tolerance for mistakes improves collaboration and efficiency. Traditional values like precision and quality can coexist with digital requirements.
In her study Kocak developed tools to measure digital competencies, mindset, and organizational culture, enabling craft businesses to assess and improve their digital maturity. These tools help ensure competitiveness in the digital age.
