FrancoPro brought together people interested in the French language – Department of Language and Communication Studies participated in the fair

FrancoPro is a two-day study and recruitment event organised by the French Institute, which was held for the first time on October 1-2, 2025. The first day of the fair was held as a public event open to everyone at the Helsinki Central Library Oodi. On Thursday, October 2, the fair continued at the French-Finnish School of Helsinki, where students from the school and nearby schools were invited.
The exhibitors were Finnish and French universities as well as companies recruiting French-speaking professionals. In addition to visiting the presentation stands, visitors to the fair were able to participate in workshops, listen to presentations, and hear from alumni about how language skills, French in particular, have boosted their career paths.
The University of Jyväskylä's presentation stand provided information about the educational programs offered by the Department of Language and Communication Studies, the university's extensive range of educational opportunities, the activities of the Language Campus network, and the networking opportunities offered by the Forthem alliance. During the fair programme, presentations were given on the study opportunities offered by the University of Jyväskylä and the SARAVE project, which is coordinated by JYU. In fact, starting in spring 2026, the SARAVE project will enable applicants with no prior knowledge of German, French, or Russian, to apply for language specialist education program in these fields.
Several French groups from local schools and high schools visited Oodi's presentation stands. In addition, other members of the public also came to the presentation stands to discuss French studies and job opportunities. At the French-Finnish school, the participants were the school's own students, from 6th grade up to the last grade of the high school.
FrancoPro 2025, organised for the first time, was a successful event. Information about next year's fair can be found on the website of the French Institute.
