Get ready to apply to doctoral programmes at JYU: Application starts 1 April 2022

Application period of spring 2022 for the doctoral programmes of JYU opens on 1 April 2022. The deadline for applications is 29 April 2022. Applicants are advised to prepare well in advance. More information about the doctoral programmes is now available in Studyinfo.fi.

The application period of spring 2022 opens on 1 April 2022 and the deadline for applications is 29 April 2022. The doctoral study right of accepted applicants starts in August 2022. The application period of autumn will take place between 15 August and 14 September 2022.

Applicants are advised to familiarize themselves with the eligibility requirements, admission criteria and application guidelines before the beginning of application period. More information about the doctoral programmes is available in Studyinfo.fi portal. Also, the application form will be available in Studyinfo.fi in the beginning of the application period. You may apply to, at the most, two doctoral programmes of the University of Jyväskylä.

In addition to the application form you will need to submit attachments, for example a research plan and a doctoral study plan. Moreover, you must contact the representative of the subject at the University of Jyväskylä to arrange supervision for doctoral dissertation. In summary, the main steps in applying for doctoral studies are:

18 different doctoral programmes

Around 200 new students are accepted into the doctoral programmes of the University of Jyväskylä every year. The University of Jyväskylä offers 18 doctoral programmes. Depending on the doctoral programme and specialisation option it is possible to pursue a doctoral degree in philosophy, education, economics and business administration, sport sciences, psychology, technology, health sciences and social sciences. Target completion time for a doctoral degree is four years if you work on your degree full-time.
