Impact of the Russia-Ukraine War on university activities
Finland is not under military threat, and Finland is safe for all students, regardless of nationality. No staff member or student needs to leave Finland because of the Russia-Ukraine War.
The University of Jyväskylä does not allow work-related trips for its staff, or university-organised trips for students to countries that the Ministry for Foreign Affairs has designated as “leave the country immediately”, “avoid all travel” or “avoid non-essential travel”. Because of the situation in Ukraine, these countries are currently Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Moldova. In these situations, the university’s travel insurance is no longer valid in any capacity.
The university is currently preparing guidelines for possible research projects with Russian partners. New research projects with Russian research organisations should be refrained from for the time being.
The University of Jyväskylä is cooperating with other universities to show solidarity for Ukrainian students and staff, and to support their ability to continue their stay in Finland.
The situation in Ukraine might cause anxiety and raise concerns and fear. How to deal with the anxiety caused by the situation in Ukraine? provides advice on how to cope and a list of places to turn to for support in a crisis.
The University of Jyväskylä will continue to regularly inform the university community of developments in the situation.
