JYU again on the list of the world’s best research universities

The University of Jyväskylä is ranked among the world’s top 501–600 in the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings that compares research-intensive universities. The comparison includes 1,396 top universities all around the world. As last year, JYU is the seventh among Finnish universities.

Last year the University’s position was 401–500. A detailed position is given only to the best 200 universities.  

Research, its volume and funding, the influence of scientific publications and the university’s reputation in the global science community make 60% of the evaluation criteria. In total 13 performance indicators measure research, teaching (30%), international outlook (7.5%) and knowledge transfer with industry (2.5%).

 “As for the indicators of education and research, the international reputation surveys by THE weight the most in the ranking. This means that long-term efforts in education and research, mobility and science communications are crucial,” says Vice Rector Henrik Kunttu.
