JYU improved its position in the Best Global Universities ranking
The global ranking by U.S. News & World Report is based on indicators such as research reputation and the number of publications and citations. The new edition includes country, regional and subject-specific rankings. The comparison included 1,250 universities from all over the world. The list included ten Finnish universities.
Among Finnish universities, JYU remained sixth. In field-specific comparisons, JYU was 187th in humanities. In other fields JYU was ranked in mathematics (190), social sciences and health sciences (256), chemistry (277), physics (287) and environmental science (294).
The highest-ranking Finnish universities are University of Helsinki (92) and Aalto University (253). Other Finnish universities on the list are University of Turku (310.), University of Eastern Finland (354), University of Oulu (399), University of Tampere (457), Tampere University of Technology (627), Lappeenranta University of Technology (634) and Åbo Akademi (861).
The best three universities on the global list are Harvard, MIT and Stanford in the US. The top three of the European list are the British universities Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial College London.
U.S. News & World Report, which now published its fifth international comparison, has published rankings of US universities for over 30 years.
