JYU rises on the list of best research universities
The comparison included more than 1,600 top universities from all over the world. Among Finnish universities, JYU was on the sixth position.
Last year JYU’s ranking was 401-500. A detailed position is given only to the best 200 universities.
Research, its volume and funding, the influence of scientific publications and the university’s reputation in the global science community make 60% of the evaluation criteria. In total 13 performance indicators measure research, teaching (30%), international outlook (7.5%) and knowledge transfer with industry (2.5%).
“I am extremely happy and proud of our result. I am particularly pleased by the increase in our scientific impact in terms of citations. This reflects the importance of our research, high scientific quality and increased visibility in the global scientific community. Our researchers have done a great job," says Vice Rector Henrik Kunttu.
