Make study paths run smoothly and gain experience in university-level development work— enroll in the student panel!
The goal of the Student Panel is to gather the experiences and everyday observations of students from different faculties regarding the smoothness of their studies to support the university’s development efforts. As an expert by experience, you’ll have the opportunity to comment on the university’s initiatives to improve the student experience and participate in two workshops with university staff.
In small groups, your voice will be heard, you’ll get to know other students, and you’ll see the progress of development work firsthand.
The Student Panel meets five times during the academic year. Each meeting lasts 1.5 hours, and participation requires no prior preparation. The meetings consist of presentations and group discussions. Two of the meetings are held as workshops with university staff.
The panel addresses the following topics, among others:
- Developing portfolio-based work to highlight students’ expertise
- Providing feedback on the principles of high-quality teaching
- Individualized academic guidance: how should individualized guidance be implemented?
At each meeting, there is time and space for participants to share their own observations, feedback, and suggestions for improving everyday student life.

The student panel is part of the University of Jyväskylä’s StudyPLUS initiative
The university’s goal is to provide a first-class student experience for everyone, and to that end, it has launched a development initiative known as StudyPLUS. The Student Panel is facilitated by Sakke and Joonas, graduates of the University of Jyväskylä, who serve as partners to the university through their company, Männikkömetsä Oy.
