Digital Services will relocate the main network storage system (NAS) between data centers on Tuesday, June 10th, starting at 4 PM. The relocation will cause approximately two one-hour outages in several university systems.

The first outage will be on Tuesday, June 10th, after working hours at 4 PM when workloads are transferred to the backup system and services dependent on the storage system are shut down in advance as a precaution. Services will be restored as quickly as possible on Tuesday evening once it is confirmed that the workloads have been successfully transferred and the backup system is functioning as expected.

The second one-hour outage will occur on Thursday, June 12th, in the early evening after 4 PM for the same services, when workloads are transferred back from the backup system after the physical move.

Digital Services utilizes the disaster recovery functionality of the systems when moving, and during the physical move, the fileshares will be served from the backup system.
