QS Ranking 2025: sport and health sciences ranked 47th, ten JYU subjects included in the prestigious ranking

Other ranked JYU fields in 2025 were communication 201–250 and English language and literature 301–330 with the same positions as last year. Physics remained in the 401–450 range. Computer science and information systems were ranked 551–600 (451–500). Business and management studies were ranked 601–650 (601–620) and medicine 651–700. In the category of medicine, the University of Jyväskylä has publications mostly from the field of sport and health sciences but also from other disciplines.
Among JYU’s broader fields of science, humanities and arts were rated the strongest, ranking in the same range as in the previous comparison, 451–500. Natural sciences were ranked 501–550 (401–450).
QS World University Rankings by Subject evaluates universities in 55 distinct disciplines. The ranking is based on the following indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation and citations per paper as well as the productivity and impact of the published work of scientists or scholars and international research cooperation. The weighing of indicators varies between disciplines. The disciplines are based on the Scopus discipline classifications, which are determined by the title of the journal. This year the ranking included 55 disciplines and 1,748 universities from all over the world.
