QS Rankings: JYU again among the world’s best universities
JYU’s position in the annual ranking was 346, while it was 336 last year. The list comprises only 1,001 top universities of the world. Therefore, any position in the list is an achievement. The ranking included nine universities from Finland.
“It is estimated that there are about 26,000 universities in the world, so JYU is among the best 2%,” says Vice Rector Marja-Leena Laakso. “We can be very happy about the result. It indicates that our research and education are highly appreciated also internationally.”
The ranking is based on six indicators with different weight: academic reputation (40%), employer reputation (10%), faculty/student ratio (20%), citations per faculty (20%), international student ratio (5%) and international staff ratio (5%).
The University managed especially well in the faculty/student ratio and the international staff ratio, clearly exceeding the international median. Also the proportion of citations per faculty members exceeded the international median.
The University of Jyväskylä was ranked fourth after universities of Helsinki, Aalto and Turku among Finnish universities.
