Helena Levonmaa has received a 10,000 euro grant from the Finnish Konkordia Fund and a 45,900-euro grant from the Society of Swedish Literature in Finland for her doctoral research. Her research focuses on social resources and active aging in senior housing. The study examines adjustment to the social environment in senior housing, experiences of active aging, and differences between Finnish- and Swedish-speaking older adults in their experiences of social capital.

The Swedish Literature Society in Finland has awarded Filip Kronqvist a 38,800 euro research grant for his doctoral research. His research focuses on active aging among senior housing residents experiencing cognitive decline. The study examines how personal goals, organizational structures, and living environments shape residents’ opportunities, motivation, and ability to participate in active aging.

The study is carried out in close collaboration between the Public Health Programme at the Folkhälsan Research Center and the Gerontology Research Center. The project is headed by Professor Mikaela von Bonsdorff, Professor of Gerontology and Public Health.
