Researchers’ Night returns on 25 September 2026, illuminating the autumn evening in Jyväskylä together with the City of Light event. Researchers’ Night has been offering insights, experiences and activities to all curious people in Jyväskylä for more than a decade already. The event takes place simultaneously across Europe, and in Finland seven cities will take part this year.
The theme of this year’s Researchers’ Night is curiosity. It is a force that drives us to open our minds to new possibilities and search for answers to the unknown – from small insights in everyday life to major scientific breakthroughs.
Researchers’ Night is an annual science event where researchers present the most topical phenomena in their respective fields of science, thereby inspiring all kinds of curious souls to explore science and research. There will be captivating workshops, interesting expert lectures, and unique exhibitions.
The venues are spread widely across the city: the Mattilanniemi, Seminaarinmäki and Ylistönrinne campuses of the University of Jyväskylä (JYU), as well as the main campus of Jamk University of Applied Sciences on Rajakatu. At JYU, the audience can, for instance, test their attentiveness in a driving simulator, delve into the fascinating world of meme research, and observe brainwave responses to their favourite music. On the Jamk main campus, you can, for example, reflect on choices in sustainable consumption, apply your engineering design skills, and explore the safe and ecological use of mobile technologies.
There is much more in the Researchers’ Night programme.
The daytime programme at JYU is designed especially for school groups, but the evening programme is intended for everybody, irrespective of age, and is suitable for whole families as well. The full programme will be published later in the summer and autumn.
Come along and get inspired by the wonders of science and experience all that can be accomplished by bold curiosity!
Mark the date in your calendar – more about the programme and the year’s greatest science event will be available soon on social media!
