Special decisions because of the coronavirus epidemic: the transition period of major subject-based education, the duration of study right, the scholarships of students liable to pay tuition fees
Extension to the transition period of major subject-based education
The three-year transition period, based on the Rector’s decision on 17 February 2017, for students who have started degree studies at the University of Jyväskylä before autumn 2017 so that they can complete their degrees based on the old major subject-based curriculum will be extended to 31 December 2020. After that, everyone will complete only degrees in compliance with the new degree structure. More information on the transition (the site is being updated).
Automatic extension to study rights that end on 31 July 2020
Degree students’ study rights that are about to end on 31 July 2020 will be extended without a separate application to 31 December 2020. Further instructions are being prepared and we will inform about them as soon as possible.
The tuition fees of international master’s degree programmes and the scholarship programme
First-year students of international master’s degree programmes who are liable to pay tuition fees and are receiving a scholarship must complete at least 40 ECTS credits (normally 55 ECTS credits) of degree studies during the academic year 2019–2020 to get a scholarship for the following academic year.
If the studies of a second-year student liable to pay tuition have delayed because of the coronavirus epidemic arrangements in spring 2020 resulting in that the student cannot complete the degree by 31 July 2020, the student can be allowed a scholarship to cover tuition for the following term for which the student shall register for attendance.
Further instructions are being prepared, and we will inform all students liable to pay tuition fees about them by email as soon as possible.
