Support to those suffering from earthquakes in Turkey and Syria

The earthquakes in Turkey and Syria raise plenty of distress and concern not only in these countries, but also to the Turkish and Syrian members of our university community, who have relatives and friends there.

It is natural to react to the situation in different ways. It is not wise to try to push off one’s emotions. Don’t remain alone but talk about these issues with a family member, relative, friend or other trustworthy party.

How can I help?

You can help the earthquake victims by donations. It is advisable to direct monetary help to well-established, experienced and trustworthy aid organisations, which have experience on how to work in crises together with authorities and other aid organisations. They have storage space, delivery channels and networks through which the aid gets across to the destination.

UNICEF Finland
· By making a donation to UNICEF’s emergency aid, you can also help earthquake victims.
· Through UNICEF’s emergency aid, children receive food, clean water, health care, and protection, and they can continue their school also amidst crises.

· The catastrophe fund of Red Cross Finland helps victims of wars and natural disasters across the world.

Save the Children
· Save the Children ry helps children and families in Turkey, Syria and the neighbouring areas after disastrous earthquakes.
