The Board of the University of Jyväskylä aims to select the rector by Midsummer

The University Board discussed the candidates and their interviews, as well as the results of the suitability assessments and the progress of the application process. The members of the Board thanked the Student Union and staff associations for organising the candidate panel. The Board plans to choose the new rector by Midsummer.

Ten applicants submitted their applications for the position of rector of the University of Jyväskylä by the deadline of 7 May 2023. Of these, the University Board shortlisted four candidates to continue in the process based on an overall evaluation.

On Friday 26 May 2023, the University’s staff associations and the Student Union organised a panel discussion for the candidates who applied for the position of rector. The four applicants invited for an interview that participated in the panel discussion were Doctor of Philosophy Piia Björn, Doctor of Philosophy Marko Hakovirta, Doctor of Philosophy Jari Ojala and PhD Saara L. Taalas.
