The Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences at JYU ranked 25th among the world’s best by ShanghaiRanking
“From an international perspective, the ranking is good, but we cannot afford to be complacent, especially since we were previously in the top ten. Our goal is to reclaim our place at the very top,” says Vesa Linnamo, Dean of the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences.
ShanghaiRanking published its first list of sport science schools and departments in 2016, when the faculty was ranked 40th. It was 36th in 2017 and 29th in 2018. Since then, the ranking has varied between 8th and 22nd place.
The top 300 university ranking is based on the number of scientific publications and citations, as well as articles in the highest-quality international journals. Publication data has been collected from the Web of Science database over the past five years. This year’s top 300 list includes 285 universities with a sport science unit and 15 universities that focus entirely on sport sciences.
