The President of the Republic to visit the University on Tuesday 3 December 2024 – Welcome to the events!

President Alexander Stubb will meet people at a public event on Tuesday 3 December from 1.30 to 2.15 p.m. at Jyväskylä University Library Lähde. The event is open to all so the audiences are encouraged to arrive early. Entrance to the event is via the Lähde doors B2 and B3, that is, from the left side of the building when facing the main doors.

Parking:

On Tuesday 3 December, parking is prohibited in Seminaarinmäki in the car parks of the Main Building and Oppio. Only pick-up and drop-off traffic will be allowed in the area.

Changes in access to the Lähde library building:

• The main doors of Lähde will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Access to the Taide cafeteria, the library and the 2nd and 3rd floors is via door B3 and staircase from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Access to the 1st floor and the Tiede café is via door B2 from 7:30 to 12:00 noon.
• The first floor of the library building is cleared of people between 12:00 noon and 12:30. This does not apply to staff working on the first floor. 
   

Exceptions to opening hours:

Café Tiede is closed from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. 
During the public event, it is recommended not to use the service desks in the building. 

Other things to note:

It is not permitted to bring heavy objects, backpacks, or other portable items to the event.
Please note that there will be no cloakroom service in the library building during the event. 

The doors will open to the public at 12:45 as follows:

• Access to the 1st floor via door B2
• 2nd and 3rd floor access via door B3
   

Martti J. Kari memorial lecture in the Main Building

After the event in Lähde, President Stubb will give the Martti J. Kari memorial lecture from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the assembly hall of the Main Building. The doors of the assembly hall will open at 2:15 p.m. and close at 2:45 p.m. The seats in the assembly hall of the Main Building will be filled in the order of arrival, so it is recommended that you consider which of the events you would like to attend.

• The doors at the side of the Liikunta building will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• It is not allowed to bring heavy objects, backpacks, or other portable items to the event.  
• There will be a free cloakroom service for the audience of the memorial lecture in the Main Building from 2:00 p.m.
