The printing system and students’ print balances will be updated in weeks 40–41
Registering with the new uniFLOW system
Once the new uniFLOW system is up and running, you will receive a registration code via email to register your student card or any other card with an RFID tag.
To register your card on a multifunction printer, simply hold the card up to the reader at the front of the machine and then enter the registration code. If you have not received the registration code by email, you can check it on the uniFLOW service.
What remains the same?
With the PrintIT service, you will still be able to:
- log in to the printer using your student card or any other card with an RFID tag, such as a bus card
- use secure printing
- print via mobile to printit@jyu.fi
- make copies
- scan to the Scanjobs folder and to your student email.
What is changing?
The name of the new secure print queue is jysecure, jyprint.ad.jyu.fi. The hyphen has been removed from the name. The old print queue was called jy-secure, jy-print.ad.jyu.fi. When printing, please ensure you select the new print queue from a university computer.
You will now need to log in to the multifunction printer using your card. You can no longer log in to the printer using your JYU username and password combination.
New printing and scanning options in the uniFLOW service
The uniFLOW Online management portal is accessed using your university Microsoft account, which is in the format käyttäjätunnus@jyu.fi. In the management portal, you can:
- send files for printing
- check the registration code required to register your card. The code will also be sent to you by email.
- check your print balance
- link your university OneDrive account to the print service and scan files directly to OneDrive
- scan files to your own workstation. Scanning to a workstation is only possible on Windows computers.
You can install the uniFLOW Smart Client on your personal computer via the uniFLOW Online management portal. You can also print using the uniFLOW Online app, which can be installed on your mobile phone.
Your print balance will henceforth be reset to 5 euros once a month
You can check your print balance via the uniFLOW Online management portal or the uniFLOW Online app on your phone. In the service, the balance is divided into two wallets:
- Primary wallet: This balance is used as the primary balance for printing. On the first day of each month, the print balance in the primary wallet resets to 5 euros.
- Secondary wallet: Here you will find the balance you purchased for yourself before the change to the printing system. This balance is used when the primary balance has run out.
If your balance runs out during the month, you can obtain a top-up for valid reasons from the Digital Services customer service desk. The sale of balances has been discontinued.
For any issues relating to your balance, please contact the Digital Services helpdesk (Lähde Library, 3rd floor) or call 029 441 8030 (Mon–Fri 9.00–15.00). The helpdesk is open on weekdays, Mon–Fri, from 10.00 to 14.00. You can also submit a support request via the HelpJYU portal: https://help.jyu.fi/jp
Ensure data protection
If the material to be printed contains personal data, confidential information or other sensitive content, always use the jysecure print queue.
If the documents you are scanning contain personal data or other confidential information, use the ‘Scanjobs’ folder for scanning. This ensures that sensitive material is processed within the university’s own environment.
