The theme of this year’s Pride week is friendship and social wellbeing. The week is traditionally celebrated by flying rainbow flags and handing out pins on the campus. This year also the transgender flag will be flown for the first time at the University. The flags are placed in front of the Library Lähde and the Main Building next week.

Free JYU badges will be available for staff and students in the lobby of the main building, Agora and Ylistö and at the JYY office in Ilokivi. There is a limited number of pins, so grab yours!

The week will culminate in the Pride procession on Saturday 10 September

JYU and JYY also arrange several events that reflect the spirit of Pride, to which we warmly welcome our entire university community. The theme will also be handled in the media channels of JYU and JYY. SETA Jyväskylä will also arrange a variety of activities during the Pride week and the week will culminate in the Pride procession and party at the park on Saturday 10 September.

All willing students and staff members are invited to join the procession in a common section for the University and the Student Union. Members of the university community can pick up an orange university t-shirt to wear in the parade if they wish. You can pick up the shirt from the University Shop Assistant Tuula Markkunen on 6.9.2022-8.9.2022 at 9-11 am in the T-building (call from the door tel. 040 805 3232).

The organisation for the procession starts at 11 a.m. in Kirkkopuisto. The procession starts moving at 12 and concludes at the Lounaispuisto park where the main party of the Pride week is held. The event includes various activities and music. Visitors may also enjoy the Student Union’s bouncy castle!
