The principles of publishing guiding the University of Jyväskylä’s publishing activities have been updated. The new principles replace the previous document from 2020. The updated publication principles also include the university’s ethical principles of publishing, which were previously issued as a separate document.

The principles of publication are available in the Research section of the university’s website.

The updated principles compile the guidelines that govern the JYU’s publishing activities, their openness, and ethical standards, which are followed throughout our university community regardless of the discipline. The document outlines how publication authorship is determined and provides guidance for agreeing on authorship in co-publishing. It also includes instructions on how to correctly indicate the University of Jyväskylä affiliation in publications. The document also outlines the policies related to the publicity, publication, and copyright of theses and dissertations produced at the JYU.

The compilation of the principles of publishing has been the responsibility of the JYU Open Science Centre and Research and Innovation Services.

The principles were approved by the Rector on 26 March 2025.
