Two research periods were awarded at the JYU Research Period call 2021
With the research period system, the University of Jyväskylä aims to give researchers an opportunity to focus fully on research work, and thus to intensify international research cooperation and to increase scientific research visibility. The University grants research periods, which its professors, Senior Researchers (yliopistotutkija) and Senior Lecturers (yliopistonlehtori) may apply for. During the period, they are guaranteed a leave of teaching and administrative duties and they are expected to have mobility periods abroad. The call ended on 2 April 2021 and attracted five applications. The next call for Research Periods is planned to take place during the spring 2022.
The research council evaluated the applications taken into account the academic merits of the applicant, the planned international research co-operation with it´s targets and the mobility plan. The Research Periods were granted to professor Anna Rönkä (Department of Education) and university researcher Maija Vihinen-Ranta (Department of Biology and Environmental Science). These researchers planned to enhance their research co-operation with research groups in Portugal, Malta, USA and Israel utilizing their research infrastructures and data.
