University of Jyväskylä prepares for worsening pandemic situation
New restrictions coming for the area
The regional infectious disease control group has presented the Regional State Administrative Agency for Western and Inland Finland a request to set a gathering limitation for the area of the Central Finland Health Care District. A possible decision on gathering limitations will come later from the Regional State Administrative Agency. Also the restaurant restrictions of an area in the community transmission phase will probably come into force during this week based on a decision of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.
JYU policies enable continuing operations
The aim is to implement teaching and research as planned. Possible specifications to the guidelines will be made when necessary if national or regional orders so require due to the pandemic. The university’s coronavirus monitoring group observes the situation and informs about possible changes.
Everyone is encouraged to consider the necessity of travelling and postpone non-critical trips abroad.
For travelling abroad, JYU follows the policies of the Institute of Health and Welfare and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Travelling abroad is still possible, excluding areas to which travelling is limited. Many countries have set travel-related restrictions, and they will probably increase in next few weeks. Therefore, the situation may change rapidly and even planned trips may be cancelled. Nevertheless, Finnish citizens always have the right to return to Finland.
In this situation, also travelling in Finland should be avoided, especially to areas in the community transmission phase.
Updated information on restrictions related to travelling is available on CWT's Travel Essentials website, the travel bulletins of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Travel and the coronavirus pandemic website of the Institute for Health and Welfare.
Meetings are recommended to be held remotely or in sufficiently spacious facilities by taking care of health security.
No extensive remote work recommendation is given at this point, but the university recommends to utilise remote work so that duties can be taken care of safely.
Planned Christmas parties and other events that promote wellbeing at work can be implemented by following health security measures.
Events should be held so that the creation of infection chains can be avoided. Health security should be considered in arrangements, for example, in dining and safe distances during the event. When organising an event, you can request consultation via the Corona Information channel (corona.information@jyu.fi).
Individuals’ actions such as getting vaccination protection, using masks and maintaining safe distances and hygiene are key measures to protect from the pandemic.
More detailed instructions for period 3 (starting 1 January 2022) will be published on 16 December.
