Biography

I work as a senior lecturer at the Centre of Multilingual Academic Communication. My main teaching responsibilities include research communication courses for doctoral students, university pedagogy courses designed for staff who teach academic content through English (English-medium education), and an elective course in translation and culture.

I am interested in multilingualism and multilingual communication, research and science communication within and beyond academia, as well as non-professional translation and mediation—both as real-world phenomena and in terms of their pedagogical implications.

Research interests

My primary research interests are in critical applied linguistics, translation studies, and pedagogy.

Topics that I am currently interested in include the development of doctoral students' researcher identity; the integration of equity and social justice topics into doctoral-level research communication courses; language and translation awareness in research and writing for publication; collaborative scholarly writing in intercultural contexts; the interconnectedness of language practices, language ideologies, professional identity, and sense of belonging in multilingual academic work communities; culturally responsive pedagogies; and translation and mediation as pedagogical resources for intercultural learning.
