I am a doctoral researcher studying informal care and the role of family members and other close relations in supporting older people. My research explores how care responsibilities are negotiated between public services and personal networks, and how assumptions about the role of relatives and other close contacts are shaped through policy, administrative documents, and public debate. I have a particular interest in the responsibilities and expectations placed on family members and other close networks, the gendered dimensions of care, and the changing role of informal care within the Finnish welfare state.
