Biography

My main research interests concern biodiversity conservation and sustainability science topics. I focus on exploring people's perceptions of, and preferences for, biodiversity experiences, sense of place, ecotourism and other aspects human-nature relations. Currently working as a Postdoctoral researcher exploring people's perception of the global environmental crisis on social media.

Research interests

In my current research, I investigate how the global environmental crisis is perceived and represented in virtual social environments, such as social media platforms. I especially look into assessing patterns of public attention and topics of discussion around climate change and biodiversity loss. I follow an interdisciplinary, mixed method approach, combining quantitative big data, with in-depth qualitative data analyses to assess people’s attitudes and preferences. My research aims at helping to reveal the diversity of people’s perceptions towards the crisis, the attention it receives, how it is framed, and what the main topics of concerns and discourses are on social media. Results could help providing evidence on the role of social media in rising awareness and in fostering collective responses to the environmental crisis.
