I work as a doctoral researcher in the Department of Education. My research focuses on workplace learning and forms of collaboration between universities and industry as part of the research-driven development program for the Master’s program in Information Technology and Software Engineering at the University of Jyväskylä. I am investigating how higher education institutions and companies collaborate and how people learn on the job and in the context of working life. I am particularly interested in how artificial intelligence is changing competency requirements and the ways in which competencies are developed in workplaces and higher education institutions. This topic is important because the nature of work is changing rapidly: students, employees, and employers need information about what kinds of competencies will be needed in the future and how best to build them. My areas of expertise include collaboration between higher education institutions and businesses, work-based learning and on-the-job training, lifelong learning, skills development, and the impact of artificial intelligence on work and skills. I am happy to speak on these topics and collaborate with companies, higher education institutions, the public sector, and the media.
