Biography

I am a Professor in Swedish at Department of Language and Communication Studies at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. I earned my PhD degree in General linguistics at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2001 and moved to Finland in 2003. I was awarded a docentship at University of Jyväskylä in 2007 and appointed as Professor in 2012.

Research interests

My research interests include multilingual and digital family language practices as part of the research field family language policy (FLP), mediated discourse analysis (nexus analysis), L2 teaching and learning (especially Swedish in Finland), and language and educational policy issues and discourses.

I am currently leading the research project "XYZdigi" funded by Society of Swedish Literature in Finland (see link at the bottom of the page). During 2018-2022 I was the PI of  "What's in the app? Digitally-mediated communication within contemporary multilingual families across time and space" [WhatsInApp]: https://www.jyu.fi/en/projects/whats-in-the-app-digitally-mediated-comm…
