Ella Pitkäranta

I work as a research secretary, and my role is to support researchers in a wide range of tasks that facilitate research. My workday may include, for example:
• Research support: literature searches, reference checking, data collection, transcription, data processing (including analysis with Atlas.ti)
• Coordination and communication: project coordination, event organization, communication and translation tasks
• Technical tasks: Study Expert, Assessment Master, Atlas.ti, podcast concepting and editing, Canva materials (social media posts, posters, and learning materials)

I primarily work with the Wisdom in Practice (WiP) research project and the Educational Assessment Team, but I also assist other staff members of the Finnish Institute for Educational Research when my availability allows.

I am a teacher of English and Swedish by education. Previously I have worked on various projects, with topics including language and interaction, digital inclusion of the elderly, reading and literacy of young people, sustainable development, and the overall well-being of young adult students. Hence, I am interested in all kinds of topics and social phenomena that can be studied with a pedagogical approach and by examining language.
