Biography
I am a Doctoral Researcher at the Department of History and Ethnology. My research focuses on Nordic labor immigration policies, parliamentary decision-making and policy development in Swedish, Finnish and Danish political parties. In my PhD dissertation (forthcoming 2/2025) "Picking and choosing workers' rights: discourse and policy-making on foreign wild berry pickers' rights in Finland and Sweden 1995-2020", I study the ways in which the labor market status and rights of third-country wild berry pickers have been decided on and debated in Finland and Sweden throughout the first few decades of the 21st century. The objective is to identify how the two cases have become entangled and what differences and similarities can be found in the handling of similar crises in the neighboring national frameworks.
Within the Department of History and Ethnology, I am a member of the "Comparative study of political culture" research cluster. I am the editorial coordinator of the journal Lähihistoria.
