Biography

I work as a postdoctoral researcher at the Finnish Institute for Educational Research. Currently, my research is focusing on development of JYU–JAMK higher education consortium in a three-year longitudinal study. In addition, I am a principal investigator in a research project funded by Kone foundation which examines how international higher education is adapting to the climate crisis.

My research approach is interdisciplinary: I hold a doctoral degree in administrative sciences (Tampere University) with a specialization in higher education research, and I have a master’s degree in cultural anthropology (University of Oulu). I am particularly interested in the experienced and lived everyday life of higher education organisations, as well as broader questions of sustainability and responsibility in higher education. Recently, I have applied especially ethnographic methods, such as organisational ethnography and autoethnography, to better understand, among other things, the intersections of academic work and slowness.

I am an active member of the Finnish Association for Progressive Science [Edistyksellinen tiedeliitto] and the CANIE (Climate Action Network for International Educators) network.
