Research interests
In my ongoing research project "Exploring Disagreements and Disputes", I set out to examine various types of disagreements and disputes by combining theoretical work from social epistemology, linguistic philosophy, metaethics, and social philosophy. In recent years, philosophical research literature on disagreements has proliferated considerably yet it is not always clear how that translates to a practical level or meets with people's daily concerns. I seek to remedy this situation by applying recent theoretical findings to a number of real-world cases that potentially have far-reaching personal and social significance, such as disputes with conspiracy theorists who consider their own epistemic position superior, or instances in which one resorts to judging an opposing party or view either evil or ignorant with no other option being thinkable. The overall objective is to produce new conceptual tools for analyzing and understanding intractable disputes of our time.
