I am a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Jyväskylä School of Business and Economics (JSBE), within the Corporate Environmental Management (CEM) research group. Before moving into academia, I spent around 18 years working in international development cooperation, with a particular focus on private-sector development, institutional reform, and sustainability. My professional and consulting work has involved companies, public institutions, industry associations, and development organisations, including GIZ, UN organisations, Better Cotton Initiative, and WWF, across Europe, Asia, and Africa.
My practitioner experience has focused particularly on sustainability management, climate action, human-rights due diligence, regulatory implementation, organisational development, circular economy, green skills, sustainable supply chains, and multi-stakeholder governance. I have worked across several sectors, most prominently textiles and garments, as well as automotive, printing and packaging, logistics and supply chains, and hospitality, in advisory and consulting roles. This work has given me a practical understanding of a recurring challenge: sustainability requirements are becoming increasingly ambitious, while organisations and institutions often lack the governance arrangements, capabilities, and coordination mechanisms needed to translate them into effective implementation.
This experience led me into academic research to examine these implementation challenges more systematically. My doctoral research focuses on strengthening sustainability governance in multi-tier supply chains, particularly how financing models, risk management, and artificial intelligence can support firms in responding to sustainability requirements, regulatory change, and complex international operating environments.
My broader research interests include supply-chain governance, sustainable and resilient supply chains, sustainability regulation and due diligence, climate and GHG management, organisational governance and risk, circular economy, and the use of AI in sustainability management. I am particularly interested in research that connects academic analysis with practical governance solutions for firms, public institutions, and multi-stakeholder systems.
