Biography

I work as an Academy research fellow at the Gerontology Research Center and the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences. Our research group develops novel methods for physical activity assessment using wearable sensors, and use the methodology to study the effects of physical activity on health. I write a science blog on physical activity monitoring in Finnish in https://liikkuvalabra.fi/

Research interests

I work in the field of exercise science to develop methodology for physical activity assessments and to understand the relationship between exercise dose and response. Our research focuses on using wearable technology such as accelerometers and heart rate monitors to quantify physical activity in large epidemiological studies. The aim is to quantify physical activity both in absolute terms and individually relative to exercise capacity to examine the independent association between physical activity and health.
