Biography

I have a M.Sc. in Health Sciences, and I am currently working as a doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences and the Gerontology Research Center at the University of Jyväskylä.

Research interests

In my PhD research, I explore the importance of vision and hearing in functional ability in older people. In particular, my research focuses on how vision and hearing relate to other key aspects of functional ability, such as physical, mental, and cognitive functioning. I aim to gain a more holistic understanding of the resources that underlie functional ability. My research is based on data from the Evergreen project, founded by Professor Emeritus Eino Heikkinen in 1989, and the AGNES project, founded by Professor Taina Rantanen in 2017.
