Biography

I am a general history PhD student. My PhD dissertation Parliamentarians Debating Democracy in a Time of Crisis: How was Democracy Viewed and Defined by French Politicians 1927-1940. (working title) studies how French parliamentarians used the concept "democracy" in their parliamentary speeches and what forms of democracy they supported and opposed in their parliamentary speeches. In addition, this study aims to uncover how the parliamentary representatives described the relationship of democracy to existing political institutions and which parts of the society were included in these different forms of democracy, e.g. how did the representatives spoke of women, who still lacked the right to vote, or how they addressed the citizens living in colonized areas.
