Biography

I work as a postdoctoral researcher in the "Watchdogs or or activists? Meaningfulness of work in Finnish journalism" project. Additionally, I teach BA and MA students in the journalism discipline and supervise BA and MA theses related to the digitalization of journalism. I am a member of the Cocodigi research group.

Research interests

In my research, I explore the intersection of journalistic work and digitalization through theoretical perspectives situated in organization research and organizational communication research. My work aims at understanding the changing institutional role of journalism as well as shedding light on communication in newsrooms and its relation to wellbeing in the media field.

My doctoral thesis, "Journalism Made Different: Continuity and Change in Contemporary Newsrooms" (2024) focused on development work, that is, creativity, innovation, and learning, in contemporary newsrooms. I explored the relationship between development work, digital technologies, and journalism as an institution.
