Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology.
My research interests encompass community diversity, macroecology, species interactions and statistical ecology.
Currently, my work is centered on evaluating and refining monitoring methods to measure biodiversity across various taxonomic groups on a national scale in Finland. I employ advanced automated high-throughput (DNA-, audio- and image) techniques to assess the diversity of fungi, birds, bats, mammals and invertebrates. The aim is to establish a sustainable, long-term monitoring system for these species. A significant aspect of my research involves developing practical pipelines to derive biomonitoring measures from the collected data. Additionally, I utilize joint species distribution models (JSDMs) for comprehensive data analysis.
