I work as a University Lecturer in Social Work at the Kokkola University Consortium Chydenius, where I started in autumn 2021. I hold a Doctorate in Social Sciences and I hold a qualification in vocational pedagogy. Alongside teaching social work, I am particularly interested in developing teaching practices and implementing participatory assessment methods.
My research interests broadly focus on the meanings of place and locality, as well as research involving children and families. In my doctoral dissertation (2025), I examined how rural communities responded to the establishment of an asylum reception center. The study revealed how this change generated tensions and reshaped the meanings of place, locality, and community in a context where acceptance and exclusion were closely intertwined.
