Biography

I am a project researcher in the ERC-funded Life of Giant Phages (GIAPHAGE) project led by Elina Laanto.

Research interests

I work on phages (viruses that infect bacteria) isolated from freshwater - specifically phages with large genomes which are called giant phages. I process the samples and work on implementing a protocol to sequence the genomes of our large phage collection with minimal effort using Nanopore sequencing. This will contribute to our understanding of the variety and content of large phage genomes. Additionally, I have been working in method development for environmental microbiology using a variety of microscopy techniques and detection methods.
