Biography
I am an experimental nuclear physicist specializing in nuclear structure studies of exotic, proton-rich nuclei. My research focuses on gamma-ray spectroscopy and lifetime measurements of excited nuclear states, which provide information on the internal structure of atomic nuclei, nuclear shapes, collectivity, and the interactions between protons and neutrons.
I carry out my research at accelerator-based facilities, such as at JYFL-ACCLAB, where short-lived nuclei are produced in nuclear reactions and studied using state-of-the-art radiation detector systems. My work contributes to a better understanding of how nuclear structure evolves far from stability and how fundamental symmetries, such as isospin symmetry, appear in atomic nuclei.
In addition to research, I teach measurement techniques as well as fundamental and applied nuclear physics. I also supervise master’s and doctoral theses. I am a certified Radiation Protection Expert in Finland and provide radiation safety expertise and services for Finnish companies and organizations.
