In my research, I focus on airborne particles containing radioactive substances, which may originate from natural or man-made sources. In my doctoral research, I develop methods for analyzing these particles in air samples. In addition, I measure how the activity concentrations of cosmogenic radionuclides vary with altitude, to support the quality assurance of air sampling. I also study air purifiers as collectors of radioactive particles during indoor sheltering in a radiation emergency. This research is carried out in collaboration with the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland (STUK). My results support radiation safety, environmental monitoring and public protection.
