Research interests

My research examines sport and physical activity in the light of social issues. In particular, I am interested in issues of power, inequality and the innovative potential of movement. I have studied inequalities in sport and physical activity in sport policy and in the experiences of athletes (SportEX -project, University of Jyväskylä). My PhD thesis in Sociology (Nord University, Norway) dealt with children's participation in sport and its everyday practices, emotions and power relations, as well as the value of creative and playful movement in the sports field. Theoretically, my research moves in the terrain of affect theories and newmaterialist theories and philosophies.
