I am a docent of molecular physiology who works as a postdoctoral researcher at Gerontology Research Center, Faculty of Sport and Health sciences at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.
I am fascinated to discover the molecular and physiological mechanisms underlying healthy aging and longevity.
In my PhD project I studied the effect of genetic background on lifespan and this prompted my interest on the molecular mechanisms that underlie health and longevity. My current research (EEVaS) focuses on the mechanisms by which exercise rejuvenates the body. I aim to find out which specific cell types within tissues are most prone to become sensencent and whether the same cell types are also sensitive to the rejuvenating effects of exercise.
