Digital Mental Health Literacy Project APEX JYU

Description
The Digital Mental Health Literacy project aims at promoting children’s and young people’s digital literacy in regard to mental health. Its multidisciplinary effort is to build deeper understanding of the dimensions and principles that are needed for conceptual construction of digital mental health literacy. We aim at involving children and young people as our co-researchers to discover their needs and preferences. The main tasks are:

-Review and evaluation of existing digital mental well-being solutions aimed at children and youth
-Expert evaluation of selected digital solutions and programs

-Scenario creation with children, young people, and adults in children’s learning environments

The Digital Mental Health Literacy project is part of the research consortium Awareness, prevention and early intervention in child and youth mental health promotion funded by the Strategic Research Council (SRC) at the Academy of Finland. The goal of the consortium is to promote the mental health of children, youth and their family members regardless of their socioeconomic environment, education, geographical location or ethnic background.

Information about Research Data

During the APEX project, our research team conducted multiple studies in order to gain insights of mental wellbeing promotion in digital environments. This included e.g. review and analysis of existing resources, workshops with children and youth from different levels of education and discussions with teaching staff.  Descriptions of the data sets gathered from these parties in the course of the project can be accessed here.
