Project description

The aim of this research project is to explore international degree students’ career pathways, expertise and support in educational sciences. In addition, researchers will develop career counselling, support and implementation in master’s degree programmes based on the data and results of this research. The participants of this research are alumni from English-medium international master’s degree programs in educational sciences.

This study applies a qualitative research design. An online survey was conducted via Webropol and distributed to alumni of the international degree programmes in educational sciences to collect broad insights into their experiences. Building on the survey results, narrative-based interviews have been carried out to gain a deeper understanding of alumni’s perspectives.

We are interested to find out what kind of career pathways the international students have built for themselves. We look into what expertise they acquired during their master's degree studies and how this expertise corresponds to the needs of working life. How the studies and support in the master's degree programmes should be developed in the future is another focus of this research.
