Project description

This project will scrutinize diverse transitions in early childhood education as critical processes for forming and restructuring children’s socio-spatial relations and lived experiences. We will follow children’s diverse paths from home to ECEC and from groups/settings to another, covering also the transition to pre-primary education at the age of six. With case analyses, the aim is to map diverse institutional transitions that children encounter in ECEC, and to explore children’s experiences in these transitions focusing on the constitution, restructuring and changes (such as continuities and dis/continuities) in children’s socio-spatial relations. 

The project is divided to three tasks:

Task I First transition to ECEC 

Task II Transitions during ECEC years 

Task III Transition from ECEC to pre-primary education (at the age of six)
