Under the FinELib consortium’s agreement with Elsevier, corresponding authors affiliated with JYU can publish their articles open access during the agreement period 1.1.2024–31.12.2026
- Without an article processing charge in Elsevier's hybrid journals and journals that have flipped from hybrid to gold open access.
- With 15% discount on the journal’s APC in Elsevier's gold open access journals.
The hybrid title Journal of Great Lakes Research subscribed to by the Open Science Centre is also included in the agreement.
Please note that the quota of articles that can be published open access free of charge under the FinELib agreement is expected to be exhausted during August–September 2026. Once the quota has been reached, accepted articles can no longer be published open access under the agreement.
Because the number of available articles is limited, researchers cannot know at the submission stage whether their article will ultimately be covered by the FinELib agreement.
Although Elsevier’s submission system may indicate that the article is eligible and show the APC (Article Processing Charge) as waived, free open access publication can only be granted if quota remains available when the article is accepted for publication. FinELib monitors the situation and will inform authors through its author instructions once the quota has been exhausted.
The 15% APC discount for articles published in fully open access journals will remain available until 31 December 2026.
