Research integrity (RI) and handling of alleged RI violations at the University of Jyväskylä

Researchers at the University of Jyväskylä produce new scientific knowledge in accordance with the principles of good scientific practice.

The University of Jyväskylä is committed to the Finnish National Board on Research Integrity (TENK) Code of Conduct for Research Integrity and Procedures for Handling Alleged Violations of Research Integrity in Finland (RI Guidelines), which has been revised in 2023.The RI Guidelines defines the principles of research integrity and good research practices to be followed in all research activities and all disciplines at the University. 

The primary responsibility for research integrity lies with each researcher. However, it is also the collective responsibility of the entire scientific community. JYU researchers produce new scientific knowledge in accordance with the principles of research integrity, taking into account the requirements of data protection, data security, responsible scientific communication and the promotion of open science.

It is in the interests of researchers, their employers, science and society as a whole that suspected breaches of research integrity are investigated through a controlled process.
